MEET RODNEY

Originally from Richmond, VA, Rodney Williams grew up in a family of entrepreneurs. In 2017, he graduated from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurial studies. Rodney also played basketball at Drexel and received multiple awards for his athletic talents. After graduation, he left to play professional basketball in Europe where he went on to play in Israel, Spain, France, and Sweden. While playing basketball abroad, Rodney received his MBA online from UMD Global Campus.

Upon his return to Virginia, Rodney struggled to figure out who he wanted to be. Basketball had been such a focus that he was not as prepared for a graceful transition as he wanted. After months of soul searching, he realized his passion for small business and forged a new path in entrepreneurship and innovation. He is currently the Head of Platform at 1863 Ventures, an entrepreneurial accelerator & venture capital firm that invests in historically marginalized founders. His love for sports and business, as well as his experience transitioning from one to the other, helped create Athlete 2 Boardroom. His mission is to help athletes, from sports to business!
